Our Bharathmaatha Family Welfare Foundation Organization is committed to providing Social Protection to Transgender People in the Districts of Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam and Thanjavur.
Transgender people face a lot of unbearable hardship and social exclusion. Continuous apathy and ill-treatment meted out to them by the society put them in a treacherous situation.
They do not have stable employment, access to health care, safe housing and educational opportunities. They have no hope for the future and they feel that the society has abandoned them.
To ensure social protection to transgender people, we are providing them with livelihood skill development trainings like Tailoring, Embroidery, Cotton Bag Production etc.
We give them counseling and much needed motivation to face the world. We also provide them with opportunities to pursue sustainable livelihood models like Cattle Breeding, Goat Rearing, setting up small petty shops, flower shop etc.
With our support and constant motivation Transgender Beneficiaries feel confident and they realize that the community cares for them. They are assured that a life with dignity and respect is possible for them through economic and social inclusion.
They are at the moment struggling to have three meals a day as this COVID-19 lockdown has taken away their income generating avenues and so, we are currently distributing Dry Ration Packets for them to fight against hunger and tide over Covid-19 lockdown successfully.
